After over a year of pondering on how the rest of the racial knives will be like, I decided to put together my own idea or concept based on my experience with the Nova Knives. So far we only have the Caldari Nova Knives but we know CCP will later introduce the rest of the racial knives as mentioned in the previous Fanfest. But what we don't know is their stats and overall function and maybe their roles.
The stats that I will list below are based on the Caldari Nova Knives as the base model in an attempt to at least bring them in line with each other. I will not make any recommendations on how much CPU/PG they will require as that is something I will leave to CCP to decide as there are too many variables to account for. I will however indicate which ones do and don't require CPU/PG.
Here is the Caldari Nova Knives as they are right now.
Caldari Nova Knives
Tiers
- Tier 1 = 90HP/blade w/2 blades
- Tier 2 = 150HP/blade w/2 blades
- Tier 3 = 200 HP/blade w/2 blades
Notes
- Charge based
- Base damage with instant swipe.
- Double damage when fully charged.
- Strikes as fast as the animation allows.
- No effect on melee damage.
- Requires CPU/PG due to Charging Mechanism.
Now let's look at the rest of the knives and see what they could potentially be when they are introduced. Each knife will have its own distinct flavor and purpose in an effort to make them reflect the nature and philosophy of their respective races.
Gallente Hook Knife
Tiers
- Tier 1 = 250HP/blade w/1 blade
- Tier 2 = 400HP/blade w/1 blade
- Tier 3 = 650HP/blade w/1 blade
Notes
- No charge needed.
- Full damage per strike.
- Strikes as fast as the animation allows.
- Tiered bonus to melee damage in addition to bonus given by myofibril stimulants.
- Requires CPU/PG due to direct interaction with dropsuit to enhance melee damage.
- Perfect for finishing off an opponent with a melee attack especially with the melee's lunge feature.

Minmatar Prison Shank - For Lack of a Better Name TBH
Tiers
- Tier 1 = 110HP/blade w/6 blades
- Tier 2 = 170HP/blade w/6 blades
- Tier 3 = 220HP/blade w/6 blades
Notes
- No charge needed.
- Full damage per strike.
- Throwable and Retrievable
- Doesn't require any CPU/PG due to no interaction with suit's functions.
- Optimal range of approximately 10m with effective range of 15m and absolute range of 16m
- Can throw only as fast as the animation allows.
- Can be used like Caldari Nova Knives but no charge is given.
Amarr Gladius Sword
Tiers
- Tier 1 = 600HP/blade w/1 blade
- Tier 2 = 720HP/blade w/1 blade
- Tier 3 = 950HP/blade w/1 blade
Notes
- No charge needed.
- Full damage per strike
- Strikes as fast as the animation allows. Since the sword is heavy, it will be slow to unsheath and attack with. But if you hit your target, it can deal serious damage.
- Doesn't require any CPU/PG due to no interaction with suit's functions.
- Infamous "Heavy Killer".
- Due to its weight and size as being the only sword in the lineup, it carries a hefty sprint speed penalty.

Since they are all sidearms in a technical sense, they will all reap the benefits of the Sidearm Damage Mods and can be mixed and matched for optimal effect. Keep in mind that the stats here are just an estimate and can later be adjusted if needed for better balancing so don't flame me for showing OP or UP stats.
What do you guys think?

And how about 'Throwing Daggers' for the Minmatar knife name?
I don't know. Prison shank sounds more Matari to me.

They would be good finishing weapons, but they would only exaggerate my squishiness.
I need something high alpha, if I have to hit them several times with the knives to kill them, I am already dead. Regardless of whether they use shotguns, CR, RR, AR.
I like that it has no cost, but given how few slots I have, I don't know that the extra module strength I could get out of the fitting would overcome the lack of alpha damage.
I do like the general ideas though.
That's why I suggested being able to mix and match each of these knives and sword. The Minmatar Prison Shanks can compliment the Caldari Nova Knives. The Gallente Hook Knife could also complement the suit with the best melee damage output.

I figured that the gladius would appeal more to the Amarr crowd since it does have that imperial feel to it.

For any of you that are running for the CPM 1, don't forget to bring this up with the devs if you meet them at fanfest. I like this topic to be discussed as much as possible before the next major update.

Caldari - as they are Amarr - AV knives Minmatar - 1 knife, low damage very high swipe speed, swipe in small arc, 1 meter range, hits anyone 120 degrees Gallente - 1 knife, high damage, slow swipe speed, wide arc swipe, hits anyone 180 degrees
This makes no sense to me. What is your logic behind this? How does this fit in with the racial archetype or philosophy? How is a knife suppose to destroy a vehicle? Can you explain the unique nature, if any, behind the knives you purpose?

Meh... reminds me too much of Star Wars. Again, an Amarr Gladius seems more appropriate and suits the philosophy of the Amarr Empire.

What is your logic behind this? How does this fit in with the racial archetype or philosophy? How is a knife suppose to destroy a vehicle? Can you explain the unique nature, if any, behind the knives you purpose? Also, what is the tiered damage you propose for each weapon? Which require CPU/PG and which don't? Please, please don't argue how things physically work. Like how a knife is support to destroy a vehicle, how the heck do lasers suddenly stop, light doesn't work that way. And since when did dust go by eve philosophies. I just feel these would be fun to use, mix it up.
We go by Eve philosophies because that's exactly what Dust is based off of. We may be in a separate game, but the philosophies do not recognize any boundaries therefore both games become affected.
Take the Minmatar Knives that I proposed as an example. Simple pieces of metal with tape as a handle. Thus they are known as prison shanks that can be made in large numbers with minimal amount of resources. This is true to the Minmatar design culture in which they built their own sprawling tribal republic out of almost nothing except scraps of metal. In fact, one of their bloodlines is described as the group within the republic that helped build their society as tinkerers and mechanics. Minmatar ships often use range as an advantage with long-range artillery guns with some close-range support.
Look at the Gallente. In Eve Online, they are known for building ships that get up close and personal and deal the most damage this way. Thus the Gallente Hook Knife reflects this especially with the added melee damage via the handle. The exotic appearance is also reminiscent of their exotic-looking ships which look very strange at times.
The Caldari Nova Knives reflect the Caldari State via the combination of electrical and physical damage dealing thus known as a hybrid weapon. Caldari ships use hybrid weapons as well (though a hybrid of a different kind). A technological marvel considering that the Caldari are known for pumping out advanced technologies. The Ishukone Corporation is known for this thus explains why the proto knives are named Ishukones.
The Amarr Empire looks very much like the high-tech Rome of its time. Thus the Gladius seems like the kind of weapon to suit it. It is rumored that there is an Amarrian sword in the lore that is used to punish unbelievers with a single devastating blow.
You're ideas may seem like fun, but it's hardly contributing to the discussion. Can you at least point out one problem with my idea? I will be happy to hear about any mistakes I make.

The forums would be more useful if there was a flag that said the Devs read your post. They only flag when a Dev replies though.
Good Luck.
I'm doing alright. But yeah it would help to know that this is being read.
